yes there is. she was the first teacher/civilian to go into space Well, actually she was going to be the first teacher in space. Unfortunately, her life was lost in the Challenger explosion, so she never really made it there.

Honestly, I thought it was sad that she was so excited to go in space (going to be the first teacher in space) but lost her life before she even got there. But for some people, it may mean nothing to them. Opinions should not be questioned, for it varies from one person to the next. Maybe ask your friends at school or in your neighborhood instead.
