Edward C. Purcell (1689-1740) was the youngest and only surviving son of the great English composer Henry Purcell (1659-1695) He is known for his song Passing by (There is a lady sweet and kind) that was popular in the 19th and early 20th century.
Among Henry Purcell's best known works are Dido and Aeneas and Te Deum and Jubilate in D. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.
