Constitutional monarchy
A constitutional Monarchy refers to a country governed by a parliament that has a Monarch. The only time the monarch has any power at all is when the government absolutely does not function. At all other times, the monarch is simply there for ritualistic purposes and appearance sake. Japan, England, Thailand, The Netherlands, and a few others have constitutional monarchs.
William and Mary became constitutional monarchs of England after recognizing Parliament as their governing partner. Their reign marked the beginning of a constitutional monarchy, where the powers of the monarchy were limited by law and balanced by an elected Parliament. This shift helped to establish the principles of parliamentary sovereignty and the rule of law, setting the foundation for modern British democracy.
generally a king will rule in his own right.he may have as his wife a queen but she has no constitutional powers. a queen who rules alone such as elizabeth 2 of the United Kingdom is married to philip duke of edinburgh he is lower in the pecking order occasionally joint monarchs rule as in William and Mary of England 1688 both having equal claim to the throne .most modern monarchs are constitutional having no real powers
Monarchs and nobles.
Pros Constitutional monarchs make better ceremonial heads of state They provide checks and balances Monarchs are well trained Cons They are undemocratic Only a member of the royal family can be the head of state The monarchies are a waste of money The existence of royalty encourages people to live in a fantasy land Monarchs are merely icons
