hectate was the Queen of the witches, she was said to have special powers. To those who practice wicca, she is considered to have had a close connection to the goddess. some think she IS the goodess, but don't get them confused she wasn't; she was very in touch with the godesss, and the earth and she was considered the most powerful witch ever. Many believeshe still watches over those who still follow the old ways.Other than that that's about all I know of her now. I'm still doing research on her myself, Hope this helps.

Hectate is the goddess of magic and that pretty much answers your question.
Hectate's style is more poetic than Duncan's
Hecate, a goddess in Greek mythology, is associated with magic, witchcraft, and the underworld. In some interpretations, she is considered to be a protector of humanity rather than an enemy.
The Hectate wants Macbeth to feel a sense of security by telling him half truths. By telling him he will be killed by a man who is not woman born, he believes that he is not to be murdered. Even though Macbeth was prematurely "ripped" from his mother.
Scholars tend to believe that those scenes (ones involving Hectate etc) are not actually written by Shakespeare. The style of writing is noticeably changed, and the scenes do not match the rest of the storyline- Macbeth is known for being an incredibly fast paced play, which often gets straight to the point of the plot. Scenes with Hectate have no real meaning for Macbeth's character and therefore do not fit in with the rest of the play.
Hecate was the ancient Greek goddess associated with magic, witchcraft, the moon, and the night. She was often depicted as a guardian of the household and a guide for souls in the underworld. Hecate was also linked to transitions and boundaries, representing the liminal spaces between life and death, as well as various phases of existence. Her worship included rituals that invoked her powers for protection and guidance.
a lesser god is a minor god in greek mythology, such as hectate, iris, or any other god not seated in Olympus. Hades is a major god although he does not have a throne at olympus, because hes like the red-headed stepchild nobody like

1) The witches revealed Macbeth's fate to him. 2) The supernatural powers influenced Macbeth by causing hallucinations. Mainly, a hallucination of a dagger, to pursue Macbeth into killing King Duncan 3) The ghost of Banquo taunted Macbeth after he murdered him. 4) The apparitions from Hectate and the witches, these apparitions revealed Macbeth's fate, however Macbeth was unable to interpret the riddles and therefore was defeated.
There is no "goddess of which craft" in the play Macbeth. There are however 3 witches which appear early in the play as prophets who hail Macbeth, the general and prophesy his ascent to king hood.
This depends on the Witch. Different Witches follow different Goddess's or Gods, depending on their religious association. Many Pagan Witches have either a Matron Goddess or a Patron God or both, whom is/are their primary focus of worship. Many Wiccans follow a similar system. Many Wiccans believe in an all-encompassing creative force known as "The All", "The Source (of all Life)", "The Creator", which is comprised by the polarities of both the God (the Lord), and the Goddess (The Lady.)
