Huell Burnley Howser (October 18, 1945 - January 7, 2013) was an American television personality, actor, voice artist, and comedian, best known for California's Gold, his travel show based in Los Angeles at KCET for California PBS stations. The archive of his extensive video chronicles represents a singular contribution to the understanding and celebration of the history, culture, and people of California. Howser was also known for voicing the Backson in the 2011 Winnie the Pooh movie, which was his only feature film appearance.
On January 7, 2013, Howser died in his Palm Springs, California home of prostate cancer (which he had been battling for many years) at age 67, 9 months before his 68th birthday.
