Jesus the Christ existed from eternity past. When He came to earth and was born to Mary in Bethlehem, He did not have a human father. In the Gospel of Luke we are told, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you therefore, also that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God" (Luke 1:35). God in heaven is the Father of Jesus. Joseph who was Mary's husband was Jesus' step father.
