I think you mean Michelangelo. They were not exactly friends, because Michelangelo was kind of a loner and didn't really like people's company much, but they knew each other, worked in Rome at the same time and both were Architects of St Peter's (Although, there were more Architects involved as well: Bramante, Peruzzi, Sangallo). Raphael was St Peter's architect until his death in 1520. Michelangelo became architect much later, in 1547.
