By most accounts, she was close with her mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, and with some of her relatives. But unfortunately, she was also close with some people who used drugs and encouraged her to do the same. When she was in the midst of her addictions, she did not take good advantage of the family members who tried to help her; she agreed to go to rehab, but then returned to using drugs, a decision which contributed to her death.
