There were however, several incursions by American military into Mexican soil, the last being the Punitive Expedition aiming to capture or kill Mexican bandit Francisco 'Pancho' Villa; this campaign lasted until February 5, 1917. Mexico could not cooperate for, nor respond against it due to it being in the middle of its Mexican Revolution (1910-1921).
