Is the holy spirit God?

Yes even though god is a spirit the holy spirit is different. He is the comforter sent to to man as christ was no longer there. The holy spirit first came to the disciples after christ was crucified.ANSWERThe Holy Spirit is God. The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is the manifestation of the One true God as He interacts with His people. God has always been and will always be. He does not change. He has manifested Himsels as Father in Creation, Son in redemption and Holy Ghost in regeneration. The Bible says that Jesus is concieved of the Holy Ghost, and yet He is the Son of God. Matthew 1, Luke 1, Matt 14:43 and 16:16John Ch. 4, Jesus says that God is a Spirit. In Acts, Annanias and Saphira lied about a matter of money to the Apostles. Peter asked them whay they had lied to the Holy Ghost and that they had lied, not to men, but God.Jesus says to the disciples in John Ch 14, that He is the Holy Ghost, or Comforter. He tells thet that the world does not know the Spirit of Truth (Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life); but the disciples know the Spirit because they have heard Him and dwell with Him and He shall be in them. Then Jesus says, "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you." Not another "person" but Jesus Himself, another manifestation of God.The Bible says that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, and in 1 Tim. 3:16 it says that, "God was Manifested in Flesh. . .recieved up into glory. . ."Jesus told the Jews that He was the I Am. (John 8)Jesus forgave sins, yet the testimony was that only God could forgive sins. The Bible says there is only One God. Rom. 3:30, 1 Cor. 8:4-6, Gal. 3:20, 1 Tim. 2:5These are just a very few Scriptures. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2Tim. 3:16For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.2 Peter 1:21Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.1 Peter 1:10-11So all Scripture is given by God, including the law and the prophets. The Prophecy came by the Holy Ghost, i.e. the word of God; and the prophet prophesied through the Spirit of Christ. In other words, the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are One and the same! So, the Holy Spirit is found to be God.Yes, he is a part of the Godhead. He is the power, he is the one that works miracles and other visible manifestations of God.1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

How did Christianity split from Judaism and form a separate religion?

Jesus Christ was born to a Jewish virgin named Mary. His earthly stepfather Joseph was also Jewish. This is where the term "Gods Chosen People" originates. God chose the Jewish people for the birth line of Jesus. Jesus began his ministry at about age 30, he chose twelve disciples to follow him as he taught and mentored them. As his stature and reputation grew, many Jews began to believe his teachings and his miracles. This angered and threatened the power of the established Jewish leadership. Jesus was not the Messiah they were seeking. They had envisioned a mighty warrior ala David, not a gentle carpenter's son who taught forgivness and love. After his betrayal, death on the cross and resurrection, Jesus fame grew even more as the bible indicates that about 600 people saw him after he had risen from the dead. Before ascending into heaven from the Mount of Olives, Jesus told his disciples to go forth and spread the word to all parts of the earth. Then, on the day of Pentecost, Peter delivered a mighty sermon whereby thousands were converted to "Christianity." There was also another devout Jew named Paul who thinking he was doing God's will, severely persecuted Christians at every opportunity. He was present when Stephen's preaching of the truth so angered the Jewish leaders that they stoned him. Paul sought permission to travel to Damascus in order to continue his persecution of Christians. It was on the road to Damascus where Paul received his vision from the Lord Jesus Christ who told him to stop his persecution and to deliver the gospel to the Gentile nations. Paul was a Jew but he was also a citizen of Rome which gave him special rights and protections which would prove to be an asset later in his ministry. Paul was mentored initially by Annanias (sp?) and then led into the Arabian wilderness where he was taught by the spirit. Paul's missionary journey's are covered in several of the New Testament books. Paul's story begins in the book of Acts which was penned by Luke. After a mighty ministry, Paul was eventually beheaded in Rome because of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. For the "complete" story, read the Bible. It's all there for you.

Paul's coversion on the road to Damascus?

A:According to Acts of the Apostles, Paul converted on the road to Damascus. He was blinded by a light, fell down and heard the voice of Jesus saying, "It hurts you to kick against the goad [or 'pricks']" (Acts 25:14). This is a quotation from theancient play known as Bacchae by Euripides (d. 406 BCE). The scene has parallels to the play and peculiarly has Jesus quote a Greek proverb to Paul while speaking Aramaic ("in the Hebrew language"). Paul was then taken, blind and helpless to Damascus, where he was taught the gospel. Paul himself never mentions this episode, and says that after his conversion, he went straight to Arabia. Another clear parallel between Acts and the Bacchae is when Paul is miraculously released from prison. Taken together, these accounts demonstrate that the source was a play, not actual events. If Paul was not really converted on the road to Damascus, then no one was.
