arachane was a woman that thought she was the best at weaving then she challenged the greek god Athena to a weaving contest and lost not knowing it was Athena then arachne didnt apolygise when Athena asked her to so Athena got affended and turned arachne into a spider that's why Spiders are called arachnoids and ledgend has it that spiders are punished by living alone and having to spin their own webs because of what arachne did to Athena.
