Velazquez was born in Seville and apprenticed there and did some painting there in his youth, but the bulk of his painting was done in Madrid. He also briefly spend some time in Italy, during which he did portraits of Pope Innocent X and Juan de Pareja.
Hans Holbein contributed to the Renaissance by painting beautiful portraits. He is best known for his many portraits of King Henry VIII.
Jean Clouet was a French painter who served as court painter to King Francis I. He is known for his detailed and realistic portraits of French royalty and noble figures, helping to establish a new style of portraiture during the French Renaissance.
