∙ 6y agoCaptain Edward John Smith was mildly scapegoated at the British Inquiry after the sinking of Titanic but it was only a matter of convenience to shift some blame to "the dead guy".
In truth, the crew were simply following the protocols of the day.

∙ 14y agoIt was White Star Line's chairman Bruce Ismay who received most of the blame. After the disaster he pretty much faded into obscurity.
