Doeg HaAdomi (the Edomite) is mentioned in 1 Samuel ch. 21 and 22, and Psalms 52. He was the chief of King Saul's herdsmen. In an act born of jealousy (or of over-zealous loyalty to Saul), he slandered David in front of Saul, and (as a result) caused the death of tens of pious Kohanim (priests). See the attached Related Link for fuller detail.
The Bible does not mention how he dies. Presumably it was from old age.
John Doeg was born on 1908-12-07.
John Doeg died on 1978-04-27.
Doeg was called an Edomite because he belonged to the Edomites, a group of people descended from Esau, the brother of Jacob in the Old Testament. Edomites were considered as a separate ethnic group from the Israelites.
