Best Answer

The Americans and the Japanese were the primary combatants in the Battle of Midway, an island in the Pacific. This battle would later be considered a turning point of the war, where America began to use its newfound confidence gained by the famous Doolittle Raid to begin taking the fight to the Japanesse, as opposed to the other way around. The Japanesse fleet was devastated in the this battle, losing multiple carriers. Nagoto Nagono's, (please be aware that I'm not sure his name is spelled correctly) fears that he has awakened "-a sleeping giant" are also confirmed in this immensly influential engagment.
