The young Earl of Warwick, nephew of Edward IV and Richard III. He was then a prisoner in the Tower of London. Katherine's father, Ferdinand, made it clear to Henry VII that unless Warwick were eliminated, Katherine would never set foot in England. Henry, anxious to preserve his friendship with Spain, had him arraigned on a charge of conspiring with the pretender Perkin Warbeck, and Warwick was sentenced to death and beheaded in 1499.
