Shakespeare had friends both in Stratford and London. Among his Stratford friends was Richard Field, who became a printer in London and published Shakespeare's poem Venus and Adonis. Another friend from Stratford was Hamnet Sadler, a close neighbour of the Shakespeares. Will and Anne named their twins after Hamnet Sadler and his wife Judith, and Hamnet was one of the witnesses of Shakespeare's will.

In the London theatre crowd, Richard Burbage, Henry Condell and John Heminges were all good friends. Shakespeare remembered them in his will. Heminges and Condell were the ones who published the First Folio.
