Group Captain Peter Townsend, Equerry to King George VI 1944-1952, and held the same position for Queen Elizabeth II 1952-1953. However, as neither were married at the time it would not usually be regarded as an affair. In the 1970's, while still legally married to Lord Snowdon, she had an affair with Roddy Llewellyn. There were also rumors of other affairs in the preceding years.

Not sure if it was Peter Townsend.

No. He would have been her choice, but the politics of royalty and the Church of England would not allow her to marry a divorced commoner. She married Antony Armstrong-Jones who was given the title Earl of Snowden.

She was married to Lord Snowdon, whose prior surname was Armstrong-Jones. I believe he was a captain in either the Royal Army or the RAF.

Anthony Armstrong-Jones, soon to be created Earl of Snowdon.

It was hailed as the first 'modern' Royal marriage, but it turned out a bit too modern for some.
