George Vancouver (1757-1798 ) was an English navigator born at King's Lynn on June 22nd, 1757. He died on May 10th 1798 in Richmond Surrey.
The first known explorer to circumnavigate the Australian continent was Matthew Flinders. Flinders sailed around Australia in the ship The Investigator between 1801 and 1803, filling in many of the gaps left by previous explorers. Flinders was the one who first proposed the name "Australia" for the continent.
It is the straits between the continents of South America and Antarctica, notorious for its danger to shipping, and named after the Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan.
The English explorer who circumnavigated the globe was Sir Francis Drake. He completed this historic voyage between 1577 and 1580, becoming the first Englishman to do so. Magellan first circumnavigated the Globe for the Portuguese. This is =very similar to what NASA does daily, provide a better view of the world around us, like the great explorer did many years ago. They see Magellan as a role model for Aerospace engineering, etc.
Trade between continents was known as intercontinental trade or global trade.
Matthew Flinders circumnavigated the entire coastline of Australia between December 1801 and June 1803.
Being located between Europe and Asia allowed it to control trade between the continents.
The explorer most associated with the exploration of Georgia is James Oglethorpe. He founded the colony of Georgia in 1733 as a haven for debtors and to serve as a buffer between the British colonies and Spanish Florida.
