I believe the designer's name was Tupalov, hence the TU. I am not sure of his front name, but believe it started with an A.

How many flights will an aircraft take in a lifetime?

The aircraft designer places a limitation of how long the aircraft can operate. This limit is based upon the design of the aircraft and its fatigue strength. Many aircraft are certified for 90,000 landing cycles. Helicopters have a much lower operational life, maybe around 20,000 cycles.
