William Henry Bissell (born April 25, 1811 in Hartwick, New York; died March 18, 1860 in Springfield, Illinois) succeeded Joel Aldrich Matteson as the eleventh Governor of Illinois, serving between January 12, 1857 and his death, including the whole of 1859.
