Following the end of Anderson's term as Governor, William H. Avery (born August 11, 1911 in Wakefield, Kansas; died November 4, 2009 in Wakefield, Kansas) became the thirty-seventh Governor of Kansas, serving between January 11, 1965 and January 9, 1967.
