Following the end of Alcorn's term as Governor, Ridgeley C. Powers (born December 24, 1836 in Mecca, Ohio; died November 11, 1912 in Los Angeles, California) became the twenty-ninth Governor of Mississippi, serving between November 30, 1871 and January 4, 1874.
