His disciples saw Him as the messiah:
John 1:41 At once he found his brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah." (This word means "Christ.")
other people saw Him as the messiah:
John 4:25 The woman said to him, "I know that the Messiah will come, and when he comes, he will tell us everything."
John 4:26 Jesus answered, "I am he, I who am talking with you."
Jesus Himself said He was the messiah:
Matthew 16:20 Then Jesus ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
They never did. The question is based on an untrue assumption. Note that anyone, born Jewish or otherwise, who would worship any claimed messiah, past or present, would by definition be placing himself outside of Judaism, its beliefs and practices.
Jon Benjamin - Jewish leader - was born in 1964.
The idea of 'maschiach' (which means 'anointed') originated in Judaism. The Jewish Maschiach will be a normal, human man; he must fulfill the 23 Jewish messianic prophecies before he dies. Christianity took the concept, changed it, and declared that Jesus was the 'messiah'. As he does not fulfill any of the Jewish criteria for 'maschiach', though, he is not the Jewish messiah. The Jewish messiah is likely to be a man, but there are some Jews who argue that it could be a woman. There is a belief that in every generation, a potential messiah is born. But Jews do not actively 'wait' for their messiah. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jews and Jesus have very little to do with each other, despite Jesus having been born Jewish. See:Why didn't the Jews believe in Jesus?
A:Christians believe that the first-century Jewish expectation of a Messiah should have facilitated their acceptance of Jesus. However, they were expecting a great military leader who would help them defeat the Romans, and Jesus did not meet that expectation. There is no evidence that the Jews saw him as a Messiah. Christians believe that the Jewish belief that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem should have facilitated their acceptance of Jesus. However, the tradition that Jesus was born in Bethlehem seems to have been unknown until the last quarter of the first century, by which time a permanent schism had begun to open between the Jews and Christians.Christianity arose in the Jewish milieu but, in spite of Acts of the Apostles, seems to have achieved little in terms of acceptance by Palestinian Jews.
He was born the messiah
Aaron Messiah was born in 1858.
Albert Messiah was born in 1921.
Mr. Messiah was born on 1988-10-27.
Messiah Marcolin was born on 1967-12-10.
The land of Israel was dominated by the Romans. Jewish people looked forward to a Messiah to lead the nation to greatness and to overthrow Roman domination.
No. According to evidence that we now have, most Biblical scholars believe that Jesus was born in 4 BCE, not 1 CE. Although, admittedly the Julian Calendar still would have failed to get the date right. The Romans simply miscalculated. Whether or not Jesus was actually the Jewish Messiah is not universally agreed upon. While Christians assert that he is, Jews do not believe this. Muslims, while calling Jesus "the Messiah" have a very interpretation of this term.
