The Mede general Datis and Persian general Artaphernes commanded the Persian forces.
I am studying this right now in history the athenians fought against the Persians in 480 b.c.
From 490 to 479 B.C., the Athenians primarily fought against the Persian Empire during the Greco-Persian Wars. Major battles included the Battle of Marathon in 490 B.C. and the naval Battle of Salamis in 480 B.C. The conflict culminated in the Persian defeat at the Battle of Plataea in 479 B.C., which significantly weakened Persian influence in the region and bolstered Athenian power.

Xerxes
they fought the Persian wars, which lasted 27 year and the pelonolnesian war
There was no Persian and Spartan war. Persia invaded the Greek mainland on two occasions. The first time in 490 BCE, a punitive expedition against Athens and Eretria for supporting Miletus in revolt against Persia. An Athenian commander was Miltiades, the Persian one Datis. The second time was a general invasion of Greece, commanded initially by King Xerxes, with his land commander Mardonius. Greek commanders included the Athenians Themistocles and Aristeides and Spartans Eurybiades and Pausanias.
The war went on for 50 years 499-449 BCE. The figures we have are sketchy. At the battle of Plataia in 479 BCE there were about 150,000 on each side.
