There are many former congressmen from Tennessee. Davy Crockett is one of the most famous former congressmen from Tennessee. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives March 4, 1827 - March 4, 1831 and again March 4, 1833 - March 4, 1835. He was a famous American folk hero and frontiersman who died in the Battle of the Alamo at the age 49 on March 6, 1836.

1.- Crockett was born 17 August 1786 in what is now northeastern Tennessee. It was not until he was eighteen before he learned to read and write. Davy Crockett lived from 1786 -1836. He lived a large life--frontiersman, congressman from Tennessee, fought in the war of 1812 and died at the Alamo in Texas. He married twice, had 4 children. The Disney movie, Davy Crockett, lives up to the legends about his life, some exaggerated, but all good stories.
