Answer It really depends on what key the band is playing in but usually the key of G fits in anywhere.
I was the founder and Bass player of the New Orleans based band Nuclear Crucifixion and Darren Shallenberg was the original drummer for the band. Darren and I started the band out of another band called SEVETH. We then got Donnovan on guitar and I was good friends with Brian Patton so we started the band. In fact Glenn was not the original singer, it was not until after our first show we really knew we needed a new singer and there was Glenn. Most of the band Genesis came from Surrey and Sussex in the South of England. The band was formed at Charterhouse School (near Guildford in Surrey), and was named by Jonathan King.
You can't really compare such things. Both artists contributed greatly to the band (Genesis), and their solo work is equally admirable. It is a fact that they are two of the greatest Classic Rock performers.
