Invading Norman forces on one side, and King Harold's army on the other.
William the duke of Normandy was the leader of the Norman army, and Harold the king of England was the leader of the Anglo Saxon army
The Normans. The Saxon side consisted mainly of not very well trained fyrd (basically peasant spearmen) and some elite huskarl infantry. The Normans, however had cavalry and crossbowmen which were able to, after a while, breach the huskarls' shielwall and win.
On one side was the English under King Harold, and on the other were the Normans, Bretons and other Frenchman under William, Duke of Normandy. There is a possibility that Harold had recruited some Scandinavian mercenaries after the Battle at Stamford Bridge, but this is unproven.
