What was a result of the Sepoy Mutiny?

The Sepoy Mutiny, or the Indian Rebellion of 1857, or The Sepoy Rebellion, resulted in British troops killing many Indians after the peace treaty was signed. Bahadur Shah, the last Moghul Emperor, was tried for treason by a military commission assembled at Delhi and exiled to Rangoon. Rule by the East India Company was ended. The company was formally dissolved in 1858 and rule over India was transferred to the British Crown. The India Office was formed to handle the governance of India and the Viceroy of India (formerly the Governor-General of India) implemented the polices of the India Office. Queen Victoria took the title "Empress of India" in 1877. Indians were drawn into the government at the local level to increase consultation between the rulers and the ruled. The Bengali Army was scaled back. Units in the army were reorganized so that there were fewer British officers and more responsibility was given to Indian officers.

What are the causes of Indian mutiny?

The Indian mutiny occured in May 1857. It was triggered by the introduction of the enfield rifle, which required a mix of pig and cow fat to be smeared on the cartridges (pig fat being offensive to Muslims and cow's to hindus). It was the final straw for the sepoys after having their payment of batta removed (a payment traditionally given to them when serving abroad). They mutinied and caused rebellion to spread throughout the population

Should there be private universities?

No, we need to make sure the government should control everything about our lives. By putting all universities under the control of the government we can be sure that we will all be given plenty of government indoctrination.

What resultted from the sepoy mutiny?

One of the results of the Sepoy Mutiny was that the British East India Company was formally dissolved and its powers were transferred to the British crown. The India Office was created to handle the governance of India, the Secretary of State for India was to handle Indian policy, and a Viceroy of India was appointed to implement the policies of the India Office. Another result was the reorganization of the Indian Army. More responsibility was given to Indian officers and units were formed by recruiting from other castes, such as the Sikhs and the Gurkha, and scaling back on the number of Bengali.
