Neil Armstrong went to the moon is a spacecraft named the Apollo 11. The landing craft that actually carried him to the surface of the moon from lunar orbit was named The Eagle.
Eagle was the lunar module of Apollo 11 that landed on the moon for the first moon landing. All of the moon landings had a lunar module which could separate from the main craft and land on the moon. It could then take off again and dock with the main craft. The different lunar modules were given different names.
The landing craft were called LCI (landing craft infantry) and LCT (landing craft tank).
The Eagle landing module was abandoned in the moons orbit after the astronauts returned to the Columbia command module. When the Columbia and crew returne dto Earth the Eagle crashed back to the the moons surface. The Columbia module is in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
