I really had to do some digging to figure this one out, but I think the person you're looking for is Judy Garland. Ms. Garland was an actress and singer best known for her role of Dorothy in the original Wizard of Oz (1939). She was only a teenager at the time of its filming and release. Her second husband was acclaimed Italian film director Vincente Minnelli and they married June 15, 1945 (the year WWII ended). In 1946, Garland and Minnelli had a daughter, Liza Minnelli, who later became a singer and actress as well.
