The name of the first Egyptian to study astronomy is lost in the depths of time. It's likely that his name was never recorded, and if it had been, the chance that such a document might have survived for 5,000 years would be remote.

It's likely that this person would have done so in one of the great cities of even earlier civilizations, such as Babylon or Sumeria. But very little survives of the day-to-day records of these civilizations, which were ancient even when Egypt was the hot new thing.
