The first man to reach the north pole was Robert Peary in 1909. He made it there with his employee Matthew Henson and their Inuit guides. Peary's claim was disputed when he returned home but as of today he is recognized as the first man to reach the north pole.
Peary's claim to have reached the North Pole is very widely doubted nowadays. Mainly due to lack of evidence in his omission to produce records of observed data for steering: for the direction (variation) of the compass, and for his longitudinal position at any time

The Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen proved the Arctic was a deep polar ocean with a drifting ice cap. This put aside previous "theories" ( so often the term of theory is used & fails to meet the dictionary definition of the word ) that claimed that within a belt of ice, open shallow water, perhaps land, surrounded the North Pole. Some scientists put forth the idea that the ice cap was solid and unmoving.

The story of Ross making the first flag is not true. It began with her grandson and has continued. Congress gave credit to the design of the first flag to Francis Hopkinson and the first flag was a navy flag made in 1776. It was a British Union flag divided by white stripes and our second flag put stars in the box where the British had a cross. The colors do not mean anything despite the Boy Scout Handbook stating that they do have meaning.
I do not know what you want to know. Presidents rarely put up flags. THe US flag has been around longer than the Constitution-- since June 14, 1777.
