The only Italian explorer that I think of off the top of my head i know to have seen the Pacific Ocean is Alessandro Malaspina. He did travel from the west coast of America to New Zealand and Australia but i doubt he was the first Italian to spot the Ocean from its eastern shore because he performed his exploration during the late 1700's. ~not completely sure if he was first (highly doubt)
