The first woman MP was Elizabeth McCombs elected in 1933, 40 years after women first got the vote in New Zealand. She was elected to represent the Lyttleton electorate in a bye-election after her husband James McCombs the previous MP died while in office. Unfortunately she died herself only 2 years later in 1935. She was a great advocate for women's rights in New Zealand.
Jenny Shipley was the first woman to serve as Prime Minister of New Zealand, occupying the office from December 8th 1997 until December 5th 1999. Like many first-time female leaders around the world, Shipley did not come to power through a national election - in 1997 she challenged sitting Prime Minister Jim Bolger for the leadership of the National Party. Rather than face a ballot, Bolger resigned, and thus Shipley replaced him as both leader of the centre-right National Party and as Prime Minister of New Zealand.
Helen Clark was the first woman to become Prime Minister as the result of a general election. She led the centre-left Labour Party into the 1999 election, defeating Shipley's government on a 7% swing and replacing her as Prim Minister on December 5th 1999.

Only one. Dame Jenny Shipley assumed the role of Prime Minister of New Zealand on December the 8th 1997. She took over the office of Prime Minister after assuming leadership of the National Party from Jim Bolger. Since Dame Jenny Shipley there has only been one other female Prime Minister, Helen Clarke, who, as leader of the Labour Party, led the Government from 1999 to 2008.
Mr. John Key of the National Party is the prime minister at the moment. (The National Party is the more right wing party - like the Republican in America or Conservative in Britain.)
The Beehive is a descriptive (shape [skep] - not activity) term for the circular building housing mainly the Prime Minister and the Cabinet holders.
