James Michel became the first Vice-President of Seychelles when the position was created in 1996 August. Michel served as vice-president under France-Albert René until 2004 April 16 when René stepped down. Michel then became the third President of Seychelles. His Vice President was Joseph Belmont from 2004 April 16 to 2010 June 30, and then Danny Faure to the present.
