The person we know as Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He has always been in heaven with God the Father.
We as Christians believe in one God. But this one God is expressed in three equal Persons known as the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All three make up our ONE God. When God the Son came to earth He took upon Himself the form of a human being, a baby (Jesus) born to Mary a virgin in Bethlehem.
Jesus, the Son of God came to earth for one reason. To die on the cross of Calvary to pay for the sins of Mankind. In order to take advantage of having your sins taken away you have to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Jesus did die for the sins of the world but it is not an automatic thing to be forgiven. You have to accept Jesus as your Savior as He is the One who died for you.
