That would be American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh a twenty four year old from Kansas who used a technique where he "Blinked" two pictures of the sky until he discoved a body that moved over the two hour difference. Pluto was discovered in 1930 by a lucky accident. It was predicted mathematically that there was a planet beyond Neptune. Not knowing this, Clyde W. Tombaugh at Lowell Observatory in Arizona did a very careful sky survey which turned up Pluto anyway.
