Truly, architecture is as subjective as art, so there can be no greatest. In fact, it is impossible to prove any building is any better or worse than another by means of generally accepted logic.
However, my emotional answer would be the Paul Rudolph is the greatest architect ever to have lived. Key buildings would be his Yale school of art and architecture, the Bass residence, and the Milam residence. He was a true genius and artist.
