However there are several different people who claim to be the rightful heir to the King of France; and are therefore considered "Pretenders to the Throne". None have any official recognition by the government of France.

The last King to rule France was Louis0Philippe (1830-1848) but he was King of the French, NOT King of France. The last person officially designated King of France was Charles X (1824-1830)
