King Harold was the king before the Normans invaded, before Harold was Edward The Confessor.
The Normans were the descendants of the vikings; King Harald III, however, was a viking. In 1066 he (and the norwegian army) invaded England before the Norman conquest started. In the Battle of Stamford Bridge Harald lost against the English army under Harold Godwinson. The Normans were led by William the Conqueror, who defeated King Harold in the Battle of Hastings a little later. This marked the beginning of Norman-controlled England under King William I (William the Conqueror).
There had been a few rulers before the Normans. The Anglo Saxons led by King Harold were ruling when they were beaten by the Norman army at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
hey because king Harold had to march his army from north England to south ehgland so when they came to fight the normans, they were shattered and esspecially hadn't have anything tho eat in days. hey who are you and do you have msn>? hey because king Harold had to march his army from north England to south ehgland so when they came to fight the normans, they were shattered and esspecially hadn't have anything tho eat in days. hey who are you and do you have msn>?
After their victory at the Battle of Hasting, the Normans continued their conquest of England. Their leader William (William the Conqueror) was crowned King of England two months later. His descendants have held the English thrown since then.
The Normans and Vikings came to England in 1066 because Edward, the king had died, leaving no children and naming noheir's. He pointed at Harold Godwinson as he died, but he may have meant many things. the viking ruler Harald Hadraada had saved life once and claimed that Edward promised him the throne in return. William I of the Normans was Edwards half brother, but wasn't English. William, Harold G. and Harald H. all wanted to be king. They all fought, and England was in turmoil.
The Battle of Hastings took place in Hastings, England, which is in the continent of Europe. However, King Harold did not invade, as he was the king of England. England was being invaded at the time by the Normans (who are now the French).
Yes the Normans did win the Battle of Hastings because of Harold Godwinson's mistakes for example he lost most of his men because he fought in a battle against Hardrada just before he heard that the Normans had landed in Dover and he only had about a quarter of his men left. Does that answer the question??!!

The Normans travelled to Britain after the death of King Edward of England. William, Duke of Normandy, attempted to claim the throne due to his blood relation with King Edward claiming that Edward himself had named him his successor two years prior.
