lancelot
He was either born in Avalon, son of the Lady of the Lake by King Ban, or in Brittany. Brittany is modern-day Bretagne, in Western France. At the time of King Arthur, it was under English control. Stories where Lancelot was not born of the Lady place him as the son of King Ban and Ban's wife, rulers of Brittany. These legends say he was the foster child of the Lady.
Malcolm Canmore, later king of Scotland, was the son of King Duncan. Also Donald Ban was his son, and he also became king later on. Both of these appear in Shakespeare's play.
He was knighted in 1944 by King George VI of the United Kingdom and could from then on address himself as Sir Alexander Fleming.
Sir Douglas Mawson was knighted by King Edward VII of England in 1914.
