The U.S. military leader responsible for the surrender of Quanah Parker was Colonel James R. “Jim” Hawkins. In 1875, after a series of conflicts between the Comanche and U.S. forces, Parker, a prominent Comanche chief, ultimately surrendered to Hawkins and agreed to relocate his people to a reservation. This marked a significant moment in the history of Native American and U.S. relations during the westward expansion.
