The five star general, also known as the general of the army. They no longer have one, as they are only used during wars. I believe that the last one was during WWII.

General of the Army (Five Star) Douglas MacArthur is the only person to rise to the rank of Field Marshall of the Philippine Army.
Admiral of the Fleet is a five-star admiral. This was a rank created near the end of WWII in the US Navy, and bestowed upon King, Nimitz, Halsey and Leahy. At the same time the rank of General of the Army was created as a five star general. There were a total of nine officers promoted to five star rank, and there have been none since.
The US Military never did away with the rank of Five Star General. It's just that no one has been promoted to the rank since perhaps Eisenhower.
Dwight D. Eisenhower had been a five-star general, a rank that did not exist in the US army until midway in WW2. No general has been elected since his time.
