He is a bad guy
The antagonist in a book is typically the character or force that opposes the protagonist, who is usually considered the "good guy." The antagonist's role is to create conflict and obstacles for the protagonist to overcome, often making them the "bad guy" in the story.
Well it depends, are they the good guy or the bad guy? Is the book going to be cheesy or not? If the book is not cheesy pick fairly regular names with a bit of a twist like Lucus (as in Lucifer) for the bad guy, or Damon (as in demon) and the good guy could be called Richard (historical reference to Richard the lionheart) or maybe something like Dilon which means loyal, but is also a popular name. Anything goes but names like Damon, Lucas for evil characters.

One example of a children's book where the bad guy wins is "The Bad Beginning" from the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series by Lemony Snicket. In this book, Count Olaf successfully gets away with his schemes and the Baudelaire children are left in a difficult situation.
