The only astronaunt that went to the moon twice is James Lovell. He was on the crew of both Apollo 8 and Apollo 13, and would have landed had they not had the mishap that wrecked the mission. He was fortunate to have returned to earth safely.
Actually Jim Lovell was NOT the only astronaut to go to the moon twice - there were two others!
- John Young went twice - as CM pilot on Apollo 10 and as commander of Apollo 16.
- Gene Cernan also went twice - as LM pilot on Apollo 10 and as commander of Apollo 17.
The astronaut is Mr James Lovell, he was in Apollo 8 with Frank Borman and William Anders and also Apollo13 with Fred Haise and Jack Swigert. Apollo 8 was the first spacecraft to orbit the moon and return, and Apollo 13 blew up in the side so it did not land on the moon.
Jim Lovell and John Young each had 2 trips. Lovell flew on Apollos 8 and 13; Young flew on Apollos 10 and 16. However, John Young was the only one of the two who actually got to WALK on the moon on Apollo 16.
John Young was the only astronaut to fly all three.
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first men to walk on the moon in July, 1969
Good Luck ;)
Neil Armstrong was the first astronaut to the moon
None and never. 12 men have walked on the moon and all those men were males.
No "cosmonaut" ever landed on the moon. The word cosmonaut is the Soviet Union's title for men and women it sends into space. The Soviet Union never placed a person on the moon. The word "astronaut" is the title the United States uses for its space explorers. The first astronaut on the moon was Neil Armstrong.
He was an astronaut, and the first man to walk on the moon. He had a passion for flying, and wanted to be more so he tried and took the chance to be the first person ever to be on the moon.
No. Only the US has sent men to the moon.
No. The farthest an astronaut has ever gotten is the moon. Although soon we're supposed to send some to Mars.
