Well, I am for one. I still have several old radios, phonographs, and a TV that use electron tube technology. It is the TV that uses the CRT picture tube of course. Except for the size, I prefer it to a flat screen for warmer colors.

Other than myself, doctors use CRT in X-ray equipment, and some old radar may still use CRT's? Oscilloscopes if still out there would use CRT's in older models.

So, the CRT is not dead yet...at least, no one told it.

Does a cathode ray tube resemble the tubes used in transistor radios?

Transistor radios have NO tubes. They have (guess what) transistors.

Do LCD TVs use cathode ray tubes?

Some early flat screen TVs used cathode ray tubes, but the flat faced tubes were harder to make and heaver than the older curved faced tubes. When newer designs (e.g. plasma, LCD, LED) came out that naturally produced flat screens and were lighter weight than cathode ray tubes, they rapidly made flat screen cathode ray tube TVs obsolete.

What did J.J. Thomson's experiments with cathode ray tubes imply about the mass of an electron?

J.J. Thomson's experiments with cathode ray tubes suggested that electrons have a very small mass compared to other particles.

Who performed an experiment with cathode ray tubes?

J. J. ThomsonJ. J. Thomson did the cathode ray experiment where he discovered the existence of electrons.

What is an example of a cathode ray tube found in most American homes?

Cathode ray tubes are the screens of old fashioned televisions and computer monitors.

How magnetic field is related with cathode rays in physics?

Cathode rays are negatively charged particles that move in curved paths in the presence of a magnetic field. The direction and curvature of the cathode rays can be controlled by adjusting the strength and orientation of the magnetic field. This phenomenon is known as the magnetic deflection of cathode rays and is used in devices like cathode ray tubes.

What subatomic particle was discovered with the use of a cathode ray tube?

The electron was discovered by using cathode ray tubes. When it was discovered that the cathode ray diverted away from the negative end of a magnet to the positive end, it revealed that there was a negative particle present in the ray.

What makes cathode-ray tubes dangerous?

Cathode Ray Tubes are potentially dangerous because they are vacuum sealed and can implode. This can cause the shattered glass to fly outward and also exposes the toxic coating inside of the tube.

What are the two most recognizable types of electron tubes?

The two most recognizable types of electron tubes are vacuum tubes and cathode ray tubes. Vacuum tubes are electronic devices that control electrical signals, while cathode ray tubes are used in older television and computer monitors to display images.
