The 8th Prime Minister Stanley Melbourne Bruce was sworn in as Prime Minister on the 9th Feburary, 1923.

Correction:

Stanley Bruce was not the eighth Prime Minister of Australia. He was the eighth different Prime Minister, as several men in the early years served more than once.

The eight Prime Minister of Australia was Andrew Fisher, who served from1910-13.

Historically, John Curtin has often been regarded as Australia's best Prime Minister, as he faced enormously difficult decisions during World War II.

In terms of the Prime Minister who maintained office for the most years, being voted in several times, the title of 'best Prime Minister' would have to go to Sir Robert Menzies.

However, according to an Australian Galaxy poll conducted in early 2013, former Prime Minister John Howard has been voted as the best prime minister of Australia in the past 25 years. He easily overtook Robert 'Bob' Hawke who came third in a previous poll.
