The Generals of the Army were: * George C. Marshall * Douglas MacArthur * Dwight Eisenhower * Henry H. Arnold - Arnold's rank was changed to General of the Air Force in 1949. * Omar N. Bradley. George Washington, John Pershing, Ulysses Grant, William Sherman and Phillip Sheridan were also "Generals of the Army", but they did not hold the Five Star Rank.
Macarthur was a US Army General- while he did teach English at the Point ( West Point, USMA) he was not generally thought of ( no pun intended) as a writer. I am not aware of any fiction by Macarthur. Some of his exploits in the War ( world War II, pacific theater) were wildly exaggerated by the Media- such as the phrase Macarthur"s Bombers- Macarthur was never an Air Corps officer ( a the time the Air Force was part of the Army) =nor was he a Marine- though involved in many amphibious operations.
George Marshall was Chief of Staff. D. D. Eisenhower Commander in Europe. Chester Nimitz, Pacific Ocean MacArthur commanded the South Pacific. Joseph Stillwell senior US Officer in China Burma India, but the overall Allied commander was Lord Mountbatten.
It is played upon the general officer proceeding to his/her table. Stop the music only when the general officer has arrived at their seat and proceeds to look straight forward.
General Bradley was his immediate superior, but ultimately it was General Douglas MacArthur.
It was Carlos P. Romulo, who coined the famous phrase "I shall return" by General Douglas MacArthur. Romulo was MacArthur's press officer at that time.

He is also known for his controversial views on Japan and his close association with General Douglas MacArthur. Willoughby authored "MacArthur, 1941-1951," a sympathetic biography of General MacArthur.

O'Hara tried to surrender to the commander of the French forces, Comte de Rochambeau. De Rochambeau directed the British officer to General Washington, who in turn directed O'Hara to surrender to Washington's subordinate, General Lincoln.
