Saint Barnabas was a teacher before becoming an Apostle. It is said that he was cousin to St. Mark, and he was very close to St. Paul, as well.
Barnabas was evidently not remembered for any miracles as I find nothing recorded in any biography of the saint.
Little is known about his early life, except that he was the son of a Mary from Jerusalem and so presumably he grew up there. His parents were Jewish and his mother was a relative of Barnabas.
